Skylight Guardrail
Collective Free Standing Skylight Guardrail
Kee Dome, is a collective, free-standing, fall-protection solution for use around skylights, rooflights and domelights up to 2m x 2m in size. The modular Kee Dome™ system allows contractors and maintenance crews to access rooftops for repair and maintenance work safely and easily without the risk of falling through glazed areas. This product can also be used in seamless harmony with our other fall-protection solutions.
Quick Assembly
The Kee Dome™ system features a number of standard components which can be assembled around the designated area with maximum speed. These include vertical posts, hand and knee rails together with associated 90° corner fittings, and special recycled PVC feet with clamping rings. Once the steel tubing rails have been cut to size, they can be locked into position by the corner fittings. The adjustable clamping rings are used to fix the feet securely to the corners of the rooflight base, which can be up to 4m2 in area. As a result, the system remains completely free-standing, eliminating the risk of damage to the roof membrane.
Fully Modular
Although designed as a permanent solution, the new Kee Dome™ system is fully modular, so it can also be taken down, moved and re-erected as required. Once constructed, it provides a maximum permissible horizontal load of 300 N/m. and complies fully with the relevant rooftop safety legislation and EN 14122 pt3. The system is suitable for use on all roof surfaces, with a maximum pitch of 3°.
- The maximum footprint for the Kee Dome is 8' x 8'.
- A Clamping ring is inserted into the base unit to lock the uprights.

Safety
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF KEE DOME SKYLIGHT PROTECTION SYSTEMS.
THE DESIGN
- KeeDome is a collective, free-standing, fall protection system specifically designed for use around skylights. It is not permitted to break the rails to form access points.
- KeeDome utilises standard Kee Klamp Limited fittings, and purpose made P.V.C. base-plates that sit at each corner (limiting ‘slippage’).
- KeeDome is designed to comply with EN 14122 pt 3. The system uses Ø48.3mm x 3.2mm wall tubing to BS1387, and with a design load of 300N/m, the maximum skylight size is 2m x 2m.
- KeeDome is suitable for use on any roof type, but must not be used on any pitched roof of 3° or more. At full extension, the system weighs approximately 119kg. Check the safe weight load for the roof before installing.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR KEE DOME
Before assembly / installation, check the roof area concerned is free from the following:
- Snow; ice; lubricants; loose substances or; any obstructions that would prevent installation of the feet.
Check if P.P.E. is required for the duration of the installation.
- Position the feet at the corners (right against the corner).
- Position the clamping ring into the slot of each base (ensuring the grub-screw is accessible).
- Drop a pre-assembled upright into each base
- Measure the required length for each rail
- Cut rails and assemble
- Make sure bases are still against the skylight / curb.
- Tighten grub-screws to 39N/m.
SPECIFIC LIMITATIONS
N.B. Please note that the ‘wobble’ evident in an individual upright assembly is necessary for manufacture and installation, and disappears when the installation is complete.
- The system is designed as a complete unit, and should not be used with gates or openings.
- Do not use Kee Dome (or Kee Guard) for attaching safety lines / wires, lanyards or abseiling lines.
- The system is re-usable, but the grub-screws are not, and must be changed if the system is dismantled and reinstated.
- Fittings that are, or appear to be welded, modified or damaged / defective must not be used.
- Fittings should be positioned to minimise any collection & retention of rainwater by grub-screws.
- Do not mix Kee Klamp fittings with any other brands.
MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
In the event of Kee Dome being ‘used’, the system should be checked and any damaged items replaced with Kee Klamp original parts.
Without such an occurrence the system must be checked ‘yearly’ to ensure no damage has been sustained, and that grub-screws are still to the correct torque
TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
There are no particular limitations as to transportation and storage of fittings other than they should be kept in a dry and ventilated environment.
